Another successful 5K for Kaye is in the books!  The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the volunteers or the runners of the 1-mile fun run and 5k.  For the second year in a row, the overall winner was our very own Gatewood Sophomore, Jake Holloway.  He took home this year’s prize with a winning time of 20:20.  Click this link for the full results.  Check out more pictures on the facebook page

About Kaye Gregory Cheshire:
As a student at Gatewood, Kaye was a vital part of both athletics and academics. Kaye participated in basketball winning the region title in her 10th, 11th and 12th-grade years. The team won the state championship during her 11th-grade year. Kaye was selected to the All-Region team her 12th-grade year. Kaye was a member of the track team her 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th-grade years. During this time, the team won the region championship during her 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th-grade years and the state championship during her 8th, 9th and 10th-grade years. Kaye also participated in softball in the 11th and 12th grades. As a member of the Class of 1985, Kaye was an Honor Graduate and elected to the Gatewood Hall of Fame. Graduation was not the final legacy Kaye left at Gatewood. After having children, she and her
husband, Mark, returned to Eatonton so their children could attend Gatewood. Gatewood was not only blessed to have her children as students but also to have Kaye as a member of the faculty. Kaye’s legacy will continue live on at Gatewood, not only through her family and the lives of those she touched but with a building meant to inspire young girls to achieve their personal bests in all they do. Her children are Hope (Class of 2014), Ross (Class of 2017) and Caleb (Class of 2019).
