Dear Gatewood Families:
On behalf of Gatewood’s Board of Directors, I would like to thank you for the confidence and support you have demonstrated toward Gatewood Schools, Inc. Gatewood continues to make improvements which support and enhance the overall educational experience for all students. Improvements have been made to classrooms, computer labs and athletic facilities. Academic programs provide a curriculum with “relevance and rigor”. Gatewood offers AP classes and a DUAL enrollment program that not only challenges students with college rigor but allows for college credit. The early acceptance rate into UGA among other universities is exceptional and 89% of the senior class is already HOPE eligible. Gatewood also provides a wide range of extracurricular activities ranging from a robust athletic program to the arts. In keeping with our mission, we educate our students in a nurturing, Christian environment, instilling our core values and equipping our children with the skills needed for collegiate and lifelong success.
Tuition and Fees
In December, after a thorough analysis of Gatewood’s finances, the Board of Directors adopted tuition rates for the 2018-19 school year. Based upon anticipated re-enrollment, anticipated new enrollment numbers and operational requirements, the changes adopted by the Board include the following:
- A $10/month per child increase in preschool grades
- A $10/month per child increase in grades K – 5
- A $20/month per child increase in grades 6-8
- A $30/month per child increase in grades 9-12 The following discounts continue for 2018-2019:
- A 5% discount for families with 2 children
- A 10% discount for families with 3 children
- A 15% discount for families with 4 children
- A 20% discount for families with 5 children
- An additional 2.5% discount for those who choose to pay their tuition in full (Plan C)
Applications for financial aid will be through the FACTS Management Company. This process is conducted online and can be accessed through your RenWeb account. The financial aid committee will meet in April to consider financial aid requests for re-enrolling families and again prior to the start of the next school to consider aid requests from new families who will join us in the fall. We ask that you file your request early and provide all requested information so that we can effectively assess need and award appropriate amounts from available funds. Should you have any questions, please contact Libby Rainey in the Admissions Office for assistance.
The Annual Fund is crucial for our yearly operating revenue. By definition, it is the amount donated that Gatewood expects and budgets for each year to meet our costs. This year’s budget includes $175,000 from the Annual Fund to meet operational expenses. For the 2018-2019 school year, please make a commitment to the Annual Fund.
Gatewood Service Hours
Gatewood has benefited greatly from parents who donate their time to the school in various capacities. This is not only a key component of the school’s smooth operation but an important way to promote unity within the Gatewood community. Beginning next school year, the school is going to require a minimum of 8 service hours per family. These hours may be served in any capacity that benefits the school ranging from concession duties to decorating our campus for holidays.
Georgia GOAL Scholarships (Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program)
Scholarships at Gatewood help ALL Gatewood families. Less than 20% of Gatewood students receive scholarship assistance and the average scholarship is less than 25% of their total tuition. The scholarships are awarded to academically qualified students based on need and a desire to receive a quality education that they could not otherwise afford; there are NO athletic scholarships provided through Gatewood’s scholarship program. If these students did not attend Gatewood, the board would need to increase YOUR tuition by 23% (instead of this year’s average tuition increase of 3%) in order to maintain the same quality of education that we are currently providing. Please support these scholarship programs that do help all Gatewood families by DIVERTING some of your Georgia Income taxes to Gatewood’s scholarship program through the GOAL Scholarship program. Please contact Libby Rainey, Director of Admissions, at 706-485-8231 ext. 1300 for additional information.
Re-enrollment contracts will be available for submission online through RenWeb on January 16th, 2018, and must be electronically signed by January 23rd. After January 23rd, RenWeb will withdraw students from the 2018-2019 school year that have not been re-enrolled. Submissions received after that date must be accompanied with a mandatory $250 late fee per student, and the student must re-apply for admissions. If you plan to apply for financial assistance, please ensure the “financial aid contingency” button is checked at the bottom of the contract. Should you have any questions regarding tuition, fees, or financial aid information, please contact Libby Rainey, Director of Admissions, at 706.485.8231, ext 1300.
We extend our sincerest thanks for your confidence in Gatewood Schools, Inc. We pledge our commitment to serve you and your children to the very best of our ability.
Chairman, Gatewood Board of Directors
