The Gatewood Players is the drama and musical theatre club at Gatewood School. Started in 2019, the Players continue to expand with opportunities for grades 1-12!

Mission Statement:

The Gatewood Players strive to enrich the lives of Gatewood students by offering positive experiences in the performing arts. Through instruction and performance, students will be nurtured in self-expression and ensemble teamwork culminating in a drama or musical performance.

Gatewood Players: Opportunities for grades 3-12 to learn more about theatre experience.

Fall—Students in grades 8-12 are invited to take the one-act play elective (fall semester only). Students will take part in the GISA Literary competition and have an evening performance and earn credit for literary honors at graduation. Students will work on theatre basics including acting, scene study, set building, costume and makeup design, team building, and much more.

Winter/Spring—Singing and acting stagework with a focus on large scale musical performance. Sign ups in November. January-March rehearsals with performance in March. All Players meet after school once or twice a week from 3:00-4:30 pm with increased rehearsals closer to performance. Schedules given out with registration forms. Limited to 25 members.

Students in middle school (grades 6-8) are invited to take the MS performing arts elective (second semester only). Students will take part in the GAPPS One-Act Festival in February and have an evening performance. Students will work on theatre basics including acting, scene study, set building, costume and makeup design, team building, and much more.

Mini-Gatewood Players: Grades 1-2 drama club learning the basics of theatre ending with a musical performance. For one month, students meet after school once or twice a week from 3:00-4:00 pm. Limited to 25 members.

Gatewood Players Tech: Interested in behind the scenes? Spotlight and light design? Music and sound design? Each show has opportunities to learn more about the technical side of theatre. The tech crew will continue to grow as we enhance our new auditorium space.
